About

Lara Maleen Kipp is a scenographer, early career researcher and theatre maker. She works part-time as Lecturer in Scenography and Theatre at Aberystwyth University.

Born in Bavaria, she started early musical experiences from the age of 6. During secondary school at Schule Schloss Salem, she gained experience both on- and off-stage in various productions.

A Foundation Year at the Youth Art School in Meersburg extended her visual art and conceptual design capabilities.

Work experiences include Vivienne Westwood Studios and the Salzburg Opera Festival.

She completed her joint BA Scenography & Theatre Design

and Drama & Theatre Studies at the top of her class in 2012.

She completed her MA Practising Theatre & Performance with Distinction one year later. She completed her PhD investigating the scenography of Howard Barker in three years with minimal corrections.

During her PhD, she taught across the drama, theatre and scenography curriculum at Aberystwyth University. During her lectureship at the University of Derby, she taught across the drama and theatre programmes.

She has extensive international conference experience, both presenting and chairing at panels.

Her first monograph was published in October 2020.

She is fluent in German and English, and currently learning Welsh.
